Hazard-Perry 9/10 wins state crown

Last week, the Hazard-Perry 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars made the trip to Bowling Green to participate in the state tournament. When the red brick dust had cleared, the local all-stars had captured the state crown with a 9-7 win over Bowling Green East.Hazard-Perry got off to a less than stellar start as they gave up six runs on seven hits in the first inning, putting them in a 6-0 hole. They would erase several of the runs in the second inning as they too got their bats warmed up.In the second inning, Hazard-Perry picked up five hits that led to four runs. Half of the runs came off a single hit as Wyatt Hensley blasted a two-run home run.

Last week, the Hazard-Perry little league program hosted the inaugural Red, White and Boom baseball tournament.
