HAZARD — A Perry County man struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross a busy roadway in Hazard died Friday evening as a result of injuries he sustained in the accident.

Thomas Wesley Hall, 57, of Hazard, was apparently walking from the Food City on Morton Blvd. to the Daniel Boone Motor Inn on Highway 15 just after 9:40 p.m. when he attempted to cross the road and was hit by a vehicle being driven by Bonnyman resident Ricky J. Campbell, according to a press release from the Kentucky State Police.

Hall was transported to the Hazard ARH medical center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hall was a “good-hearted person,” noted Loretta Sizemore, a Perry County resident who described him as a special friend and someone whom she’ll miss.

“He didn’t bother anyone,” Sizemore said. “He kept to himself, he would do anything for anybody.”

Campbell and two passengers in his vehicle at the time of the accident were uninjured, police say, and no charges have been filed.

The incident that resulted in Hall’s death remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police this week, though funeral arrangements remain incomplete as of Monday afternoon. Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard.
