On Tuesday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Whitesburg to take on the Lady Cougars. The Lady Commodores fell behind early, and then staged a dramatic comeback to leave town with the win.
Things did not go well for Perry Central in the early minutes of the game. By the time the game reached the 25-minute mark, Letcher Central had jumped out to the 3-0 lead.
The Lady Commodores got on the board at the 31-minute mark as Ashley Morris nailed a corner kick. The 3-1 score went to the break.
Perry Central drew to within one (3-2) at the 53-minute mark. Letcher Central misdirected a ball out of the box, and it found its way into the net.
The Lady Commodores tied the game at the 60-minute mark as Tori Couch knocked in a free kick from 30 yards out. Perry Central then took the lead after Taylor Adkins dribbled past the defense, and then put a shot off a defender for the goal (4-3).
Perry Central’s defense tightened up to keep Letcher Central from getting a good look down the stretch. With only a handful of ticks left on the clock, Brandi Campbell took a long shot that found its way to the net. The Lady Commodores went on to win the game by the final count of 5-3.
