Zola Whitaker, 79, passrd away Monday, Oct. 1 at her residence in Hazard. She was a retired cook for Perry County Schools.
She was the daughter of the late Ambrose Whitaker and the late Artie Allen Whitaker, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Marie Pearce, and brothers Scott, Damon, Arnold, Jesse, Troy and Willie.
She is survived by her brother, Pat Whitaker and wife Betty of Grapevine; sisters-in-law Maggie Whitaker of Hazard and Blanche Whitaker of Winchester; brother-in-law Lloyd Pearce of Hazard; special nephew Scott King and wife Kim; nieces and nephews Scott Whitaker and wife Scytha, Darwin Whitaker and wife Krista, Joan King and husband Haven, Sherrie Thompson and husband Ronald, Norman Pearce and wife Valerie, Kenneth Roy Pearce and wife Joanne, Randy Pearce and wife Misty, Rocky Pearce and wife Wilma, Amy Whitaker, Allen Holland and wife Terri Lynn, Faye Combs and husband Donnie, Wanda Engle and husband Oral, Mary Rose Whitaker, Cathy Collins and husband Johnny, Zola Craft and husband Kenzie, and Louie Whitaker and wife Letta.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm. on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4 with Billy Joe Lewis officiating. Interment will be at Whitaker/Hughes cemetery in Hazard.
