Ella Jane “Tootsie” Tackett, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 7 at her residence in Hazard.
She was a retired respiratory therapist at the Hazard ARH medical center, and the daughter of the late Samuel Cornett and the late Mary Combs Cornett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Orville Tackett; brothers Johnny, Jimmy, William and Cecilia; and sisters Minnie Proffitt, Virginia Powell, Margaret Broughton, and Anna Lee Sexton.
She is survived by daughters Sharon Tackett of Hazard, Susan Whitaker and husband Johnny of Ary, and Sandra Woolum and husband Brad of Hazard; sister Mary Faye Hurt and husband Joe; brother-in-law Ralph Powell; grandchildren Lisa Whitaker and husband Willie, and Lori Mullins and husband Greg; great-grandchildren Tristan Collins and Braydon Collins; step-grandchildren Kristy Whitaker and Sabrina Noble and husband Richie; and special dog Snow.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 11 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10 Services will follow with Johnny Akers officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff.
