Last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodore soccer team traveled to Paintsville to take on the Lady Tigers. The game was nip-and-tuck most of the way, with the Lady Commodores coming away with the 4-2 win.
Perry Central scored early with a goal in the fifth minute. Brandi Campbell dribbled through the entire Lady Tiger defense for an easy goal (1-0).
Paintsville did not wait long before they were able to tie the score. In the sixth minute, the Lady Tigers got the equalizer.
Just before the half, the Lady Commodores put the go ahead goal in the net. Ashley Morris took a long pass over the defense straight to the goal, avoiding the defense along the way. Morris then beat the goalie, sending Perry Central to the break-up 2-1.
Midway through the second half, Ashley Morris struck again. Brandi Campbell hooked up with Morris on a give and go that put the Lady Commodores up 3-1. Paintsville cut the margin to 3-2 just a couple of minutes later.
Late in the game, Ashley Morris came up with a solo goal as she dribbled past all defenders for the 4-2 advantage. Neither team would score down the stretch, and the 4-2 score held as the final. Makenzie Morgan had three saves in the game.
