The Perry County Central Lady Commodores took on the Letcher Central Lady Cougars in the championship of the 53rd district soccer tournament. The Lady Commodores were able to keep things close in the first half, but fell behind in the second frame before giving up the 4-2 loss.
Letcher Central was able to take the early lead with a goal at the 31st minute. Perry Central found the equalizer just before the break as Sarah Melton chipped the ball just over the keeper’s head.
The Lady Cougars racked up the 3-1 lead early in the second half as they hit on two early scores. The Lady Commodores pulled to within a single goal at the 72 minute mark with an Ashley Morris goal. Morris won a loose ball, and beat the goalie with a wide shot.
Letcher Central took away the goal a few minutes later, and went on to win the contest by the final score of 4-2.
