Early last week, the Hazard Bulldogs opened their basketball season on the road with the Owsley County Owls. The Bulldogs quickly posted a double-digit lead and coasted their way to the 80-44 win.
Owsley County could do little to stop Hazard in the first period of the game. The Bulldogs seemed to score at will, while stymieing the Owls. At the end of the first period, Hazard held the 25-4 lead.
The barrage continued into the second period, with the Owls finding a small amount of offense midway through. At the intermission, the Bulldogs held the 48-17 advantage.
With enough points to win the game already on the books, Hazard went on cruise control in the second half. Going into the final period, the Bulldogs were up 67-25.
The Owls got the better of the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter, but it could do little to erase their deficit. Hazard went on to win their season opener by the final count of 80-44.
