LKLP Community Action Agency began the “Subsidy” portion of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) that provides heating assistance to eligible households on Nov. 5, 2012. The significant cost of energy to heat homes leaves many households unable to fully meet heating bills or purchase sufficient bulk fuel to keep their families safe and warm. Your local Community Action Partnership (CAP) stands ready to help! LIHEAP is a statewide initiative operated by Community Action Kentucky in partnership with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Applications are being taken at convenient Community Action offices. Applicants are encouraged to apply at the location nearest to them in their county of residence. Please bring the following information when you visit to fill out an application: 1. Your most recent heating bill or verification from your landlord that the hearing expenses are included in your rent; 2. Proof of Social Security Number or Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) for each member of the household; and 3. Proof of your household’s (all members) income for the preceding month.

LKLP county offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding major holidays. For application information, please contact your local LKLP county office at one of the following locations: Leslie County-121 Maple Street, Hyden (606)672-2155; Knott County-125 West Main Street, Hindman (606)785-3322; Letcher County-2 Main Street, Whitesburg (606)633-4458; and Perry County-LKLP Perry County Jobsight, 412 Roy Campbell Drive, Hazard (606)439-1362.
