The Buckhorn Wildcats traveled to Jackson to take on the Breathitt County Bobcats in a barnburner on Tuesday, Dec. 18. The Bobcats inched away from the Wildcats, but Buckhorn was able to make a solid run in the fourth quarter. However, the rally would come up just shy of the lead.
Both teams came out slow in the first period, but it was Buckhorn that came away with the 10-8 lead at the end of the frame. Breathitt County picked up the pace in the second period, and soon had the lead. The Bobcats went into the locker room with the 26-20 advantage.
The two teams played even in the third period, with Breathitt County adding two more points to their margin (42-34). Buckhorn exploded in the fourth quarter, and was just a couple of baskets shy of their game total in the frame. However, the rally would not completely erase their deficit as they fell by two (62-60).
