The Perry County Central Commodores finished their Republic Bank Classic tournament with the Simon Kenton Pioneers. The Commodores opened the game strong, but failed to hold on to the lead, and eventually fell in overtime.
The game was a bit slow in the first period, with Perry Central coming out on top 14-9. The two teams switched roles in the second period, and Simon Kenton was able to take control of the tempo. The Commodores went into the locker room trailing 26-24.
The tempo went back to the Commodores in the third quarter, and they were able to regain the lead. Perry Central finished the period strong, going into the final frame leading 41-37.
The pace picked up in the fourth quarter as both teams tried to pull out the win. The Pioneers were able to pull off the comeback, and tied the score at the end while forcing an overtime.
In the overtime period, Simon Kenton quickly took the advantage. Perry Central would not be able to keep pace, and fell 70-63. The difference in the game came from the free throw line as the Commodores went 6 for 16, while the Pioneers were 24-31.
