The final spot in the 6th grade semifinals was up for grabs when the R. W. Combs Mustangs and the Willard Warhawks took to the floor. The Mustangs took control of the game with the opening tap, and raced to the impressive 51-9 win.
It was all R. W. Combs in the opening frame. The Mustangs jumped out to the early double-digit lead, with a late bucket by Willard stopping a shutout. At the horn, R. W. Combs held the 15-2 lead.
The Mustangs continued the rout in the second quarter, increasing their margin to over 20 points. The Warhawks picked up a couple of late baskets, sending the teams to the locker room with R. W. Combs sitting in the driver’s seat 25-7.
R. W. Combs continued to add to their lead in the third period, and ended the frame with the 38-9. With a continuous clock in motion, the Mustangs finished off the game with a flurry. R. W. Combs moved into the semifinals with the 51-9 win.
