On Saturday, the Hazard Bulldogs and the Perry Central Commodores started the 54th district JV tournament. The game was tight throughout, with the Bulldogs pulling away at the end for the win.
Both teams came out tight, and scoring was at a premium in the first six minutes. At the horn, the Commodores came away with the 7-6 lead.
Things picked up in the second period, with no one holding more than a couple bucket lead at any time. Going into the locker room, Perry Central held the 19-17 lead.
Hazard wrestled away the momentum in the third period, and grabbed the lead. With one period remaining, the Bulldogs were on top 28-25.
The Commodores came back in the fourth quarter and took the lead. However, the Bulldogs would not go away and regained the advantage. Perry Central was not able to hit on the final shot, giving Hazard the 40-37 win, putting them in the finals.
