After picking up a forfeit win over Buckhorn, the Perry Central Lady Commodores’ freshman team found themselves in the finals of the 54th district freshman tournament. The Lady Commodores battled back and forth with the Lady Eagles for most of the game, but fell out of touch late and gave up the title.
The score went back and forth throughout the first period, with Leslie County picking up a basket late to give them the 9-6 lead at the horn. In the second period, Perry Central began to exert themselves and finally took the lead. The Lady Commodores went into the locker room on top 15-14.
The pace picked up in the third period, but the quarter ended in a tie. With six minutes remaining in the game, the Lady Commodores still held the one-point advantage (26-25).
Leslie County exploded in the fourth quarter, more than doubling their output. Perry Central was not able to keep pace and eventually fell by the final count of 40-33.
