The Perry County Central Commodores opened 14th region play with the Powell County Pirates. The Commodores took the early lead but could not pull away. They eventually broke the Powell County resolve, and cruised to the 81-65 win.
Perry Central started with a flurry, and jumped out to the early lead. However, Powell County mounted a late rally and ended the first period trailing by seven at 18-25.
Both teams cooled considerably in the second period and played to a 13-all tie. Perry Central went into the locker room with the seven point cushion still intact (38-31).
The Commodores took control of the contest in the third period, and raced to a strong double-digit advantage. At one point, the lead closed in on 20 points. Going into the final frame, Perry Central was up 65-46.
The Commodores pushed the lead to over 20 points in the fourth quarter, and quickly went to their bench. The Pirates made a mini-rally, but could not cut away the lead. Perry Central went on to the 81-65 win, putting them in the semifinals.
