Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Williamsburg to take on the Yellow Jackets as part of the All “A” state baseball tournament. The Bulldogs got off to a good start, and exploded in the fifth inning as they rocked the Jackets 21-1.
The Bulldogs started out with a three spot on the board, and added two more in the third inning to take the 5-0 lead. The fourth inning would see four more Bulldogs cross the plate, upping the tally to nine (9-1).
The big inning came in the fifth inning as Hazard rocked Williamsburg for 12 runs (their largest single inning total on the year). The barrage would bring the game to an early end (21-1). Griffin Wells got the win on the mound, going five innings, with one run, three walks, four hits, and seven strikeouts.
