On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodore soccer team took on the Belfry Pirates in their second meeting of the week. The first contest ended in a two-all tie.
The game was tight throughout the first half, with each team getting several shots on goal. Neither team was able to beat the other’s goalie, sending the game into the half with no score.
Halfway into the second half, Perry Central broke the ice. Benjamin Hogan struck a long ball from his defensive position, and Logan Spencer ran it down. Spencer then put a soft touch on the ball sending it over the Pirate goalie (1-0).
Ten minutes later, Logan Spencer dribble through the entire Belfry defense to take on the goalie one-on-one. Spencer came away with the goal, and a 2-0 Commodore lead. The score would stand as the final, allowing Perry Central to avenge the earlier tie.
