The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Harlan on Friday to take on the Green Dragons. The Bulldogs took control of the game in the first period and never looked back as they routed the Green Dragons 48-13.

Scoring was at a premium in the first period, with the only touchdown of the frame going to Hazard. After a short possession, Brandon Jones broke off a 62-yard run through the Harlan line. The conversion was no good, giving the Bulldogs the 6-0 lead.

The touchdown swung the tempo in Hazard’s favor. Early in the second period, the Bulldogs went back to work. Jones picked up his second touchdown, this time on a 14-yard run up the gut. Chris Hudson caught the conversion pass from Tanner Morgan, putting Hazard up 14-0.

Kody Arnett sent the Bulldogs into the locker room with the 20-0 advantage after taking the ball to the end zone with a 28-yard scamper. Hazard took the momentum with them into the break, along with the 20-0 lead.

Hazard wasted little time changing the scoreboard. No sooner had the second half started, Hudson pulled down a pass from Morgan and ran to the end zone for the touchdown. The play covered 70 yards.

With the Bulldogs up 26-0, Harlan finally got on the board. The Green Dragons finished their drive with a three-yard run. They could not complete the conversion, setting the score at 26-6.

Hazard quickly erased the effort as Trey Higgins completed a 54-yard pass and run play for the score. Hudson completed the conversion off the pass from Morgan (34-6).

The third period held another touchdown for Hazard. Chris Hudson completed his second scoring effort with a 42-yard pass. This time, Tanner Morgan ran in the conversion, and with that the Bulldogs had the 42-6 lead.

Hazard’s final touchdown came in the fourth quarter. Jimmy Perkins carried the ball one yard, giving the Bulldogs the 48-6 lead.

With time running out, Harlan put together a touchdown play that covered 72 yards. The score would be of no consequence as Hazard would collect their first district win by the final score of 48-13.
