The Christmas chimes are ringing, heralding in the holiday season at beautiful old Bowman Memorial Methodist Church, the queen of High Street. She is getting her arts and crafts ready for display for her 20th holiday bazaar, which will be held Nov. 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
This year’s will be the church’s last bazaar. After 20 years, the ladies and gentleman of Bowman have raised nearly $200,000 to apply to the renovation started in 1992. There have been many faithful workers who made this great achievement a reality. The church’s members thank the patronage they have received through the years. It would not have been possible without friends from the city, county, and faraway places.
Santa’s elves have been busy all year making the beautiful handmade crafts. There are scarves, pillows, aprons, dish towels, place mates, and trivets. Delicious baked goods will also be on sale to delight your sweet tooth, including banana nut bread, pumpkin roll, peanut butter role, and cream candy to name a few.
A lasagna dinner will be served on Thursday for $6 and on Friday the famous chicken and dumplings dinner will be hot and ready for $6. One may eat at the church’s little café or you can carry out.
Everyone is welcome to come and join for last trip with Santa Claus Lane Nov. 7 and 8.
