Hazard Community and Technical College has received two design awards from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR).

The NCMPR District 2 Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges in District 2 and is the only regional competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges. HCTC’s Misty Feltner was honored this month for her graphic design work. She received the Silver Award in the Banners and Outdoor media category, which is for the Multi-Media Program promotion and a Bronze Award in the Promotional Campaign for a Special Event category, which was for the Jaime Paul performance presented by the Greater Hazard Area Performing Arts Series. This is the second year in a row NCMPR has recognized Misty’s excellence in design.

HCTC President Dr. Steve Greiner noted, “Misty Feltner is a very talented graphic designer and we’re fortunate to have the high-quality work she produces on a regular basis for the college.”

Mrs. Feltner noted, “HCTC has given me the opportunity to advance my creativity and education — from software to computers, the college has not spared in providing me with the best of industry-standard resources.” Feltner began working at HCTC on a part-time basis in 2002 and she was hired on a full-time basis in 2009.

Winning recipients were announced recently at the District 2 Conference in Hilton Head, S.C.NCMPR’s District 2 is comprised of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, The Bahamas and Bermuda.
