The R. W. Combs Lady Mustangs and the East Perry Lady Miners took to the floor in the first game of the 6th grade semifinals. The Lady Mustangs jumped out to an early lead and held on for the win.
R. W. Combs came out of the gates hot and quickly built a lead. At the end of the first period, the Lady Mustangs were on top 14-7.
The Lady Miners opened the second period with a pair of baskets to cut into the lead. However, the Lady Mustangs would step up and shut down the rally, going into the break with the 20-11 lead.
East Perry was able to keep it close in the third period and even cut a few points off the lead. With six minutes left to play, the Lady Miners still had to make up a 7-point deficit (25-18).
R. W. Combs was determined to play on championship night, and rallied in the fourth quarter. The Lady Mustangs managed to move on in the tournament behind the 35-20 win.
