Man robs store with screwdriver; police continue search

HAZARD—A store in Perry County was robbed over the weekend by a man with a screwdriver, and police are still searching for him.

Kentucky State Police said the Double Kwik convenience store in the Avawam community was robbed Saturday night by an unnamed man. The man was armed with a screwdriver, police said, and demanded case from the register. He fled the scene on foot after receiving the money.

KSP troopers, detectives, and the K-9 unit, alongside the Hazard Police Department responded to the scene, but were unable to find the perpetrator. No customers were inside the store at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.

The perpetrator was described as a white, 5-foot-6 male weighing between 130 and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a bandana covering his face.
