The Perry County Central wrestling team did not take a break during the holiday season. The Commodore grapplers stayed busy by participating in a bevy of tournaments throughout the area.
First up for the Commodores was the Johnson Central tournament. The Commodores did well in the event and had two wrestlers place at the top. Bradley Colwell took first in the 126 pound division, and Darien Bauer placed second in the 182 pound division.
The elementary school also participated in the event. The younger wrestlers had six place in at the top. Gage Feltner was first at 55 pounds, Luke Sandlin 3rd at 75 pounds, Corey Clemons 2nd at 80 pounds, Braydon Thomas 1st at 100 pounds, Brayden Howard 3rd at 100 pounds, and Sammy Halcomb 4th at 130 pounds.
The Commodores followed this with an appearance at the Bobby Bates Classic at Central High School in Gundy, Virginia. Again, the Commodores represented themselves well.
As a team, Perry Central finished 19th out of 41 schools (the Commodores do not have enough wrestlers to fill in all weight divisions). Bradley Colwell finished 5th in the 126 pound division, Austin Haney 7th in the 138 pound division, and Darien Bauer 5th in the 182 pound division.
Perry Central was the top Kentucky school at the event.
