Bulldogs down Generals to advance

The Hazard Bulldogs started their quest for the WYMT Mountain Classic title with the Jackson County Generals. The Bulldogs and the Generals hooked up in a titanic battle not usually seen in the opening round of the tournament.

The Bulldogs pushed the pace to a dizzying height and took control of the momentum. Hazard ended the first period with a 15-10 lead, and went into the locker room with a 33-24 advantage.

Jackson County turned the tables in the third period, and erased a little of their deficit. With one period left to play, Hazard was still in control with the 44-40 lead.

The battle picked up in the fourth period, with neither team willing to concede the contest. The Bulldogs were able to fend off the attack, and moved on in the tournament with the 69-53 win.

Hazard stats: Josh Hollan 20 (5 rebounds and 4 assists), Chris Hudson 19 (9 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block), Matt Thompson 12 (2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals), Griffin Wells 7 (2 rebounds and 2 assists), Mack Hall 6 (2 rebounds), Collier Mobelini 5 (8 rebounds and 2 assists) and Hunter Hardy (2 rebounds and 1 assist).
