On Thursday, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the Letcher Central Lady Cougars. The Lady Bulldogs, despite missing two starters, were able to push the Lady Cougars to the limit, before giving up the game 54-41.
Letcher was on fire in the first quarter, and jumped out to the 18-9 lead. Hazard began to successfully work their defense in the second quarter, and picked up some points in transition. However, the Lady Bulldogs would go into the locker room down 20-32.
Midway through the third period, the Lady Bulldogs began to wear down the Lady Cougars, and with eight minutes left to play, Hazard trailed by ten (41-31). It was all the Lady Bulldogs early in the fourth quarter, and with a minute remaining to play, they were down five. However, Letcher made good on their free throws down the stretch, giving them the 54-41 win.
