The Hazard Lady Bulldogs traveled across town to take on the Perry Central Lady Commodores in their first meeting of the young season. The Lady Bulldogs struck first, and held on to down the Lady Commodores 5-4.
Hazard scored first in the first inning off an errant throw to second that went to the fence. Perry Central countered the run in the second inning with a run off a well placed infield hit.
The Lady Commodores took the 3-1 lead in the fourth inning, but quickly gave the runs, and the led, back to the Lady Bulldogs in the fifth inning (5-3). Perry Central had three at bats to get the run back, but could only muster one run down the stretch, giving the win to Hazard 5-4.
Chandler Maggard got the win on the mound, going the distance with 8 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks and 3 strikeouts. Shelby Sheffield got the loss as she went the distance with 7 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks and 11 strikeouts.
