Last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Beattyville to take on the Lee County Lady Bobcats. The Lady Commodores found themselves in quite a battle, and had to squash a late rally to inch past the Lady Bobcats 6-5.
The two teams traded runs in the first inning (1-1), with the Lady Commodores taking the advantage with solo runs in the second and third innings (3-1). Lee County scored a run in the fifth inning (3-2), but gave it right back in the sixth inning (4-2).
Perry Central tried to ice the game in the seventh inning as they touched the dish twice, giving them the 6-2 advantage. However, Lee County refused to go away, and started a strong rally in the bottom of the frame.
The Lady Bobcats scored three runs before the Lady Commodores could shut them down. Perry Central went on to win the game by the final count of 6-5.
Perry Central (6) Whitney Evans 2 runs; Shelby Sheffield 2 runs, 4 hits, and 1 RBI; Mahala Walker 3 hits and 3 RBI; Rachael Curry 1 RBI; Lana Shepherd 1 hit; Lauryn Amburgey 1 run; Madisson Minks 2 hits; and Kim Riddle 1 run and 1 hit.
