HAZARD—A planned power outage in the Walkertown area of Hazard will leave some Kentucky Power customers with no power for around three hours Wednesday evening, though officials with American Electric Power (AEP) say those customers have already been notified of the outage.

Ronn Robinson, corporate communications manager for Kentucky Power, said the outage would affect the entire Walkertown area—about 12 customers—from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. He added that the reason for the outage was to replace some powerlines in the area that were badly in need of replacement.

“Planned outages happen fairly often, and we always let the customers know by phone call,” Robinson said.
