On Thursday, the Perry County Central Commodores took on the Corbin Redhounds, a team the Commodores have never defeated. The Commodores were able to take the early lead and never look back as they shutout the Redhounds.

The first half proved to be a power struggle between the two teams. The ball went back and forth with neither getting a clear look at the goal.

Perry Central’s luck changed late in the first half as the ball bounced between players deep in the Commodore box. Tanner Brown picked off a loose ball and found himself with an open goal. Brown promptly deposited the ball in the net, giving Perry Central the 1-0 lead.

The 1-0 score held until late in the game when Corbin picked up a foul, giving Perry Central a free kick. Brandon Porter took the kick and deposited the ball on the top shelf, extending the Commodores’ lead to 2-0.

The 2-0 lead held until the final whistle, giving Perry Central the win, and their first victory over Corbin.

Perry Central stats

Tanner Brown 1 goal and Brandon Porter 1 goal.
