Hazard picked up their first touchdown on their very first possession. Jon Combs hit B. J. Combs down the sideline for a 57-yard touchdown strike, and a 6-0 lead.
Letcher went for a big play on their first possession as well, but they would have to finish off the drive with the run. Logan Johnson completed the run with a 1-yard run to tie the game (6-6).
The Bulldogs would take the lead for good on their next possession. Jon Combs hit Jordan Olinger across the middle with a pass, and Olinger all but ran the 64-yards to the end zone. Just before he crossed the end zone, Olinger was tracked down by the Letcher defense, and he handed the ball off to Austin Johnson who completed the drive (12-6).
Hazard's defense and special teams then took control of the game, putting the offense in Cougar territory. Early in the second period, the Bulldogs hit for two more touchdowns.
The first went to Jon Combs, who finished off a short drive with a 4-yard run, and the next to Zach Blanton who took a Jon Combs pass 32-yards for a touchdown (24-6).
The two teams then traded touchdowns before the half. Letcher Central's Drew Bentley took a Logan Johnson pass 55-yards for the score, while B. J. Combs collected his second touchdown of the night on a 32-yard play. The Bulldogs went into the intermission with a 30-12 advantage.
The only score of the third quarter belonged to the Bulldogs. Corey Slone came out of the backfield to catch a Jon Combs pass, and rambled 32-yards for the touchdown, and the 36-12 lead.
Letcher Central would pull out all the stops in the fourth quarter in an attempt to get back in the game. The Cougars would have their most productive outing yet, scoring three touchdowns, however, the Bulldogs would put enough points on the board in the period to keep them at bay.
The Cougars cut the lead to 36-20 on a Jesse Rose catch, but the Bulldogs would counter with a Zach Blanton 4-yard run (42-20). Midway through the period, Drew Bentley caught his second touchdown pass, bring the tally to 42-28, and it was countered by Zach Blanton's third touchdown on a 1-yard run (48-28).
The final touchdown of the night went to Letcher Central, but it was too little, too late. The score came at the seven second mark, and cut the final margin to 12. Hazard went on to pick up the win by the final count of 48-36.
Jon Combs threw for 356 yards on the night, with 5 touchdown passes. Combs also ran for 115 yards and 1 touchdown on 12 attempts.
