Jewelry sale

The ARH Auxiliary Club will be hosting a $5 Masquerade jewelry and accessories sale on Sept. 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sept. 10 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Hazard ARH Medical Center Private Dining Room/Classrooms A-B. All proceeds will benefit the ARH Volunteer Department.

Basic computer class for senior citizens

If you are a senior citizen ages 50 and older and would like to learn how to use a computer so that you can communicate with family and friends or learn how to send a picture on email, then this class is for you. Hazard Community and Technical College will teach you the basics of windows, how to setup an email account, how to send and receive emails and how to save your pictures. You will also learn how to use the internet and how to setup a Facebook account.

Class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Tuesday, September 9 through October 2 at the Knott County Opportunity Center. The instructor is Josh Slone. The cost of this class is $35 per person.

Faith in Our Future

Faith in Our Future it taking prayer on the road with the “traveling prayer meeting” on Saturday, Sept. 13. Those interested in praying for our communities are invited to meet at 8 a.m., that morning at the Black Gold Shopping Center, the parking lot of the old Wal-Mart, where buses and vans will be available for the journey throughout the southern part of Perry County. Kodak reunion

The 10th annual Kodak reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Carr Creek State Park, Litt Carr Campground, Pin Oak Shelter House, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All former teachers and students of the Kodak Grade School and people who lived at Kodak, Meem Haskins, and Green Ridge are encouraged to come and enjoy renewing friendships and sharing memories. Please bring a covered dish. Soft drinks and water will be provided.

Housing Development Alliance

The Housing Development Alliance is celebrating 200 homes and 20 years with a two-house Community House Raising, September 13, 16, and 17. We will be raising one house, while finishing another right next door. At noon on September 17, we will host a celebration luncheon for volunteers, partners, and funders. More Than Charity

Join Kentucky Nonprofit Network and your nonprofit colleagues on Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Perry County Public Library for a discussion of the new regional analysis of KNN’s annual More Than Charity report – including new findings on employment data. We’ll develop strategies for leveraging these findings to build support and increase understanding of the issues facing Kentucky’s nonprofits with community leaders and government officials. You’ll leave with tools for advancing your organization and our larger nonprofit sector.

Registration deadline is Sept. 17.

M.C. Napier reunion

The Classes of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s will have their class reunion on Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning at 6 p.m. The reunion will be held at the Perry County Central High School on Hwy. 476 (on the old Combs Road). Please call Wilgus Fortney at 864-923-4355 if you have any questions.

Hazard area chorus

On Monday, Sept. 22, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the newly formed Hazard Area Community Chorus will begin rehearsals for the fall/Christmas season. This chorus is under the direction of Margaret Maggard, with Letha Patterson as accompanist. We will meet in the Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church sanctuary, located at 701 High Street, Hazard.

Join Jade Slone as she provides tips on how to stretch your dollars to your next paycheck. This is not just a couponing class, but real tips on not only how to make your money last, but also how to actually save money.

Workshop will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. at HCTC’s Knott County Branch, Room 212.
