Monday marks the beginning of the 2013-2014 basketball season. The three schools around the county will all see action in the opening week.


The Buckhorn girls will host Wolfe County, while the Hazard Lady Bulldogs will travel to Lee County on Monday. Tuesday will be the busy day as Buckhorn (Owsley Co), Hazard (Estill Co.) and Perry Central (Breathitt Co.) will all be on the road. The Perry Central girls will host Middlesboro.


After a calm Wednesday, Buckhorn boys will go to Cordia, while the Hazard boys host Owsley County. Buckhorns girls will get an early test as they host Leslie County.


Friday will see most of the teams on the road. Perry boys at Tates Creek, Buckhorn girls at OBI and Hazard girls at Breathitt County. Perry girls are the only team at home as they host Somerset.


Saturday will prove to be a big day as Hazard boys host Pikeville and Perry boys host Powell County.


Buckhorn’s boys will be at Berea and the Lady Wildcats will be on the road at Owsley County.


There will be several interesting games this week as Hazard boys play Estill County and Pikeville, Perry boys take on Tates Creek and Powell County. Buckhorn will also have a big game as they take on Cordia. However, the games of the most interest will involve the Hazard Lady Bulldogs as they will start the season with a new coach and system.
