Last week, the Perry County Central Commodores played their first game of the year at Lexington Catholic. The Commodores participated in the Goodfellas Pizzeria National Shootout. They would take on the Simon Kenton Pioneers.
The Commodores came out hot, and posted a 21-10 first period lead. Perry Central would cool off in the second period, and give up a small portion of their margin. However, they would go into the break sitting on a 32-23 advantage.
The Commodores and the Pioneers would keep things even in the third period, with Perry Central going into the final frame with the 43-34 lead. The Pioneers put up a valiant fight in the fourth quarter, but the Commodores were able to remain focused down the stretch, extending their lead, and taking the 65-51 win.
Justin Johnson notched a double-double in the game with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Braxton Beverly led the team in scoring with 23 points.
