The second 6th grade game on Monday pitted the Chavies Cardinals and the R. W. Combs Mustangs. The two teams battle for 24 minutes with the Cardinals outlasting the Mustangs, and moving on in the tournament.


The intensity was high as the two teams raced up and down the floor in the first period. The Mustangs were able to get the better of the Cardinals in the frame, taking the 11-7 lead. R. W. Combs would go ice cold in the second frame, while Chavies would catch fire. Going into the break, the Cardinals were on top 21-13.

Things cooled off in the third period, with the Cardinals holding on to their lead 29-22. Both teams pulled out all the stops in the final period in an attempt to stay alive in the tournament.

With two minutes remaining, the game was tied at 37. Chavies would then take control, and moved on in the tournament with the 47-43 win.
