On Friday, Perry Central senior center, Kayla Rankin joined the ranks of an elite group of Kentucky basketball players. Just minutes into the Lady Commodores game with Leslie County, Rankin scored her 3,000th point at Perry Central.

Rankin began her career at Perry Central as a seventh grader.

“Just a few games into the season, Kayla worked her way into the starting lineup,” Coach Randy Napier said, adding that Rankin has been the center of the Lady Commodores’ offense ever since.

Rankin is Perry Central’s all-time leading scorer, and has joined an elite group of only 20 other players to have reached this milestone in Kentucky basketball history.

Rankin has also been named All-State in volleyball.
