The Buckhorn Lady Wildcats and the Leslie County Lady Eagles took to the floor in the opening round of the 54th district tournament. The Lady Wildcats came to play, and gave the Lady Eagles more than they expected before giving up the game 60-54.


The opening frame score was not indicative of the pace of the game. Despite the pace of the game, the first period ended with Buckhorn holding a 7-6 lead.


Scoring picked up in the the second period, with the Lady Wildcats matching the Lady Eagles basket for basket. Going into the locker room, Buckhorn was on top 22-21.


Leslie County eventually took the lead in the third period, and extended their margin just before the horn. With eight minutes left to play, Buckhorn needed to make up five points (38-33).


The Lady Wildcats made a game of it in the fourth quarter, and late in the period were within a basket of the lead. However, the Lady Eagles were able to pull away late, moving into the finals with the 60-54 win.
