On Saturday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Pikeville Lady Panthers in softball action. Pikeville managed to get on the board first, but could not keep Perry Central at bay long as the Lady Commodores came roaring back to take the 8-5 win.


Pikeville got on the board with a pair of runs in the top half of the first inning. However, Perry Central would erase the runs and take the 3-2 lead at the end of the first inning.


The Lady Commodores went on to take the 5-2 lead in the second inning, before allowing the Lady Panthers to tighten the score (5-3) in the top of the third. The bottom half of the third would see the Lady Commodores round out their day’s scoring as they took the 8-3 lead.


The Lady Panthers added two runs in the fourth inning, before Perry Central brought in Shelby Sheffield who struck out seven in three innings work. The Lady Commodores went on to win the game by the final score of 8-5.


Perry Central (8) W. Evans 3 runs, 2 hits and 1 RBI; M. Walker 1 hit; S. Sheffield 1 run; A. Wagers 1 run and 1 hit; K. Pigman 1 run; L. Fugate 1 run; and M. Minks 1 hit. L. Fugate: 3.1 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs and 4 strikeouts. S. Sheffield: 3.2 innings with 0 hits, 1 walk and 7 strikekouts.
