On Friday, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Prestonsburg Blackcats. The game was tight throughout, with Prestonsburg pulling ahead late for the 7-6 win.

Prestonsburg was able to work the Hazard defense for a run in the top of the first inning. However, the Bulldogs would erase that run, and take the 3-1 lead by the end of the frame.

The Hazard lead would stand until the fourth inning when Prestonsburg crossed the plate three times, giving them the 4-3 lead. The Blackcats continued to add to their lead, and in the sixth inning, they held the 7-3 lead.

The Bulldogs mustered three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, tightening the score at 6-7. This left Hazard with one more inning to complete the comeback.

The Bulldogs shut down the Blackcats in the top half of the inning, but could not score the necessary runs for the win in their half of the frame. Prestonsburg went on to win the game by the final count of 7-6.

Griffin Wells went the distance for Hazard, giving up 9 hits, 7 runs, 4 walks and recording 11 strikeouts.
