Last week, Perry Central’s Kayla Rankin signed here letter of intent to play basketball for Morehead State University. The 6-foot forward is the all-time leading scorer in Commodore basketball history.
While at Perry Central, Rankin scored 3,671 points (5th in state history), pulled down 1,648 rebounds (tops at Perry Central and 10th in the state), had 616 steals (7th in state history), and had 371 blocks (13th in state history). She also had 1,505 free throw attempts which puts her at number one in state history (making 931 of the attempts puts her at 4th in state history).
Rankin is a three-time first team all-state basketball player, and two-time all-state volleyball player while at Perry Central. She was also a finalist for Miss Basketball her senior year, and a nominee for the McDonald’s All-American team. She was also selected all 14th region five times, and was player of the year in the 14th region her senior year.
