After losing their first game with Paintsville, Hazard-Perry was able to pull over an exciting win to force a third game for the title. This game would follow the same pattern as the second, and would go to the very last at bat to be decided.
Hazard Perry took the early lead, scoring a single run in the first inning (1-0). The score would stand until the fourth inning when Paintsville tied the game.
In the fifth inning Hazard-Perry got the better of a 2-1 exchange, giving them the 3-2 advantage. However, they would give up the tying run in the following frame (3-all).
In the seventh inning, Hazard-Perry went to work and scored three times to take the 6-3 lead. Paintsville would start a rally in the bottom of the inning, but could not muster more than a single run, giving Hazard-Perry the 6-4 win, and the state title.
