On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodores hosted the Estill County Engineers. It would be a rematch of last year’s region championship game. The two teams also tied in both of their regular season contests.

The Commodore defense dominated play in the first half, keeping the Engineers from getting a look at the goal in the first 20 minutes. At the half, Estill still lacked a shot on goal, while Perry Central got five shots. However, the game went to the half with no score.

The game remained scoreless until there was only two minutes remaining in the game. Brandon Wooton made a strong run down the sideline. Wooton’s first cross was blocked, but he picked up the rebound and reset the ball into the box.

Jacob Farris pulled in the ball at the top of the box, and made a strong kick past the goalie. The Commodores then settled back in their defensive position and closed out the game. The 1-0 win set Perry Central’s season record at 2-0.
