A boil water advisory was issued Friday afternoon for a section of the Lotts Creek community in Perry and Knott counties.

Hazard City Manager Carlos Combs issued the advisory after a main water line break in the area led to concerns for potential bacterial contamination. The advisory affects customers of Hazard’s water system living on Grigsby’s Branch to the Cordia School.

The advisory will remain in effect until the threat of contamination has been eliminated and samples taken from the area show the water quality to be of acceptable standards.
