HAZARD—Two apparently unrelated armed robberies in Perry County last week have Kentucky State police on the look out for two suspects in the community.

Police said on Monday, just after 10 p.m., KSP received a call from the Vicco Kwik Mart that the store had been robbed. Upon arrival, police were told that a male subject, wearing a blue coat, khaki pants, and a red bandanna over his face, had entered the store with a handgun.

“The subject demanded money from the register, and then fled the store on foot,” a press release from KSP said. “Officers conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.”

The man took approximately $284 in cash, and no one was injured in the incident.

In another, apparently unrelated, incident that night, police received a call from Ramey’s BP, in Cornettsville, at around 11:30 p.m., that a man, described as 6 feet tall, wearing a navy blue jacket, jeans, and a white mask, had attempted to rob the store.

“The caller advised that a white male had entered the Kwik Mart with a handgun, demanding cash. The clerk showed the subject that there was little cash in the register,” said the press release.

It was at this time that the man took $20 from the clerk, and fled the store, getting into a car with an unknown male.

No one was injured in this incident, either, and nothing else was taken from the store.

Both cases remain under investigation by KSP.
