HAZARD—Two Perry County men accused of assaulting and robbing a pizza delivery person in January have been indicted this month.
Jerry Hurt, 29, of Busy, and Austin Coots, 19, of Viper, have been indicted on one count each first-degree robbery and theft by unlawful taking under $500.
Last month, Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver Jared Lindon was delivering to an apartment in Cherokee Hills in Hazard when two men allegedly attacked him, knocked him unconscious, and took around $60 and two pizzas from him.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) said the attackers called and ordered pizzas in order to lure the delivery man to the scene with a fake phone number so it could not be traced.
Witnesses at the scene provided information leading to the two subjects, who were later found in a Cherokee Hills Apartment and placed under arrest, according to the KSP.
Hurt and Coots are each being held on a $50,000 cash bond at the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
