HAZARD—Boil water advisories, which were issued for multiple areas in Hazard and Perry County last week, have been lifted this week.

On Monday, March 17, the City of Hazard issued a boil water advisory for the stretch of highway from the junction of Kentucky Highway 15 and Kentucky Highway 80 to the AAA Mine Service Company on Highway 15, and for the area from the Daniel Boone Plaza in Hazard to Apple Ridge. Another boil water advisory was issued on Wednesday for the area from the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter to the entirety of Highway 80, the entirety of Kentucky Highway 476, all of the Lost Creek, all of 16 Mile Creek, and all of Kentucky Highway 550.

The condition that prompted the boil water advisory has been resolved based on water sample tests taken by the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet, Division of Water.

A new boil water advisory was issued for only 5 meters of road on Old School Road in Viper.

The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the threat of contamination has been eliminated and appropriate samples have shown the water quality to be of acceptable standards.
