The Hazard Bulldogs may not have realized their goal of playing in the state championship game, but they did, however, make it to the Class A region championship game. The Bulldogs were near the top in Class A in defense as they allowed but 263 points in 13 games (233 officially with the forfeit from Fairview). The stingy Hazard defense was led by senior Josh Meehan who accumulated 110 tackles on the season.

The Bulldog defense was not only known for their strong tackling abilities, but also for their ability to take the ball away from their opponents via the fumble recovery and interception. The Hazard defense accumulated a total of 27 take aways on the season (13 fumble recoveries and 14 interceptions). Sophomore Cole Ratliff led Hazard in both categories with 3 fumble recoveries and 4 interceptions.
