The Buckhorn Wildcats played their first game of the new year as they traveled to Jackson City to take on the Tigers. The Wildcats had a big first period, and used the margin to outlast the Tigers 60-51.


Buckhorn took the 17-9 first-period lead over Jackson City, and then settled in for a old fashioned cat fight. Scoring dropped off considerably in the second period, but the Wildcats managed to go into the locker room with the 27-18 advantage.

The Wildcats’ offense remained at an even keel in the third period, while the Tigers put up the best numbers of the contest. Buckhorn clung to the 41-37 lead with eight minutes to play.

Jackson City was able to make it interesting in the final period. However, Buckhorn would be up to the task, and held off the Tiger attack. The Wildcats went on to win the game by the final count of 60-51.

Connor Hoskins led the way with a double-double, going for 23 points and 10 rebounds.
