The Padres went up 5-3 in the fourth inning, and 6-5 in the sixth. The Cubs would explode in the sixth inning, with the first ten batters crossing the plate. They would score two more runs in the inning to take the 17-6 lead.

The Padres would start the bottom of the inning well, scoring a run (17-7). However, the rally would then die, giving the Cubs the 17-7 win.
