Last week, the Hazard-Perry junior league (13-14-year-olds) participated in the district tournament. The all-stars took on Corbin in the championship game, and came away with a 6-2 victory, giving the local team their third straight district title.


Hazard-Perry scored their first runs in the third inning, and going into the latter innings, the game was tied at two. Hazard-Perry then put together a strong seventh inning.


Hazard-Perry’s bats went to work in the seventh inning, putting together multiple hits. By the time the frame was over, they had gone up 6-2.


The 6-2 score would hold for the final, giving Hazard-Perry the district title, and placing them in the state tournament. Cameron Turner threw a complete game, with 12 strikeouts.


Hazard-Perry (6) Bailey Blair 3 hits and 2 runs; Andy Baker 11 hits and 1 run; Dylan Fields 1 hit and 1 run; Cameron Turner 1 hit and 1 run; Isiah Stupart 2 hits; Chase Ford 1 hit; and Trajan Campbell 1 hit and 1 run.
