Hazard-Perry advanced to the championship round, but would have to defeat Paintsville twice to capture the title. The first game would be a roller coaster ride that would end with an 11 inning marathon.


Hazard-Perry would take the first lead (4-1) after an exchange in the third inning. Paintsville would then start working their way back, scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings (4-3).


Paintsville would get the upper hand in a 2-1 trade in the seventh inning (5-5), forcing extra innings. Neither team would score in the eighth and ninth innings, but both would score a single run in the tenth (6-6).


Hazard-Perry would break the stalemate in the 11th inning, keeping their hopes of a state title alive with the 7-6 win.
